Dragon is the ultimate symbol of China. Chinese people often call themselves the descendants of the dragon. Unlike in western mythology where dragons are depicted as monsters to be tamed, in China, dragons are seen as life-giving, beneficent and auspicious. Once you know about them, you notice them everywhere in China.
