In Nottinghamshire, Eric Knowles learns about the art of clown face painting while experts Nick Hall and Izzie Balmer help look for items at the fair to sell at auction
They have been raising smiles for centuries, and in this episode, Eric Knowles learns about a unique clowning tradition. No two clowns should look alike, which is why their faces are copyrighted – on painted eggs! Professional clown Mattie Faint prompts a chuckle or two from Eric when he explains this egg-centric custom.
Topping the bill on this show are two teams of antiques hunters, browsing hundreds of stalls at a huge fair with experts Nick Hall and Izzie Balmer. With 60 minutes on the clock, grandmother and granddaughter Karen and Amelia stew over an art deco tea set, while the reds, friends Stuart and Martin, reckon they spy a profit with a pair of mother of pearl opera glasses. Selling their items is auctioneer Charles Hanson in nearby Derbyshire. Which team is his money on?
