Father's Day
Sean Fletcher explores how faith has shaped the stories of inspiring father, figures, past and present, and celebrates the image of God as a loving father through favourite hymns.
To mark Father’s Day, Sean Fletcher explores how faith has shaped the stories of inspiring father figures, past and present, and celebrates the image of God as a loving father through favourite hymns.
Sean begins by meeting Jeremy and Clare, whose path to parenthood has been marked by heartbreak and perseverance. Jeremy tells Sean about how his faith gave him strength through the long journey to adopting three children and how it continues to sustain him as he and Clare navigate the joys and challenges of family life.
In London, we meet wheelchair basketball Paralympian Amy Conroy and her dad, Chris. She reflects on how her father has been a lifelong inspiration, guiding Amy through tragedy and triumph, and how their shared faith has been their rock.
Sean then discovers the story of one of history’s most inspirational Christian father figures – 19th-century evangelist George Müller. At the George Müller Museum in Bristol, Sean meets museum curator Ellie Manley, who explains how Müller was inspired by his faith to be a 'father to the fatherless', providing care for thousands of orphans.
