Tougher action against parents is one of the measures being announced by the UK Government to tackle crime by young people in England and Wales.
As part of the Youth Justice White Paper, parenting orders will be strengthened and extended, which can compel parents or guardians to address their child's behaviour.
This includes parents attending counselling or guidance sessions, or face penalties such as fines.
