Railway Wood is a replica trench in a Kent woodland based on a First World War trench in Belgium. David Harper walks the duckboards with a historian who helped to create it.

The harsh reality of life on the frontline during World War I is brought vividly to life when David Harper visits a replica trench. Along Europe’s west front, millions of soldiers fought in trenches, and in a Kent woodland, David imagines what life was like for them in a 150-metre section of trench, based on one at the Battle of Passchendaele. Built by volunteers, the trench highlights the inequalities of war experienced by ordinary soldiers and their officers.

A short distance away, two teams of antiques hunters are shopping for collectibles which they hope will make them big profits at auction. In blue are engaged couple Kath and Matt, who met through a mutual friend. Their new mutual friend is antiques expert Kate Bliss! In red is another couple, Chris and Mariana, who plan to teach them a lesson – they both work in a school. With expert Mark Stacey by their side, scientist Chris is side-tracked by a model traction engine and then a brass hydrometer – but Mark’s not giving them top marks. Over with the blues, cat-obsessed Kath is purring when Kate finds a stall full of cat brooches.

With their bags bulging with bargains, the teams head to Windsor in the hope of selling them for more than they paid, but can auctioneers Harry Ballin and Simon Watson help them to a win?
