Float away on musical sea spray ft. Errollyn Wallen

Scottish composer Erland Cooper explores the idea of spindrift in sound - spray blown from cresting waves during a gale. Also, we visit the safe haven of composer Errollyn Wallen.

A composer from Orkney, Erland takes much inspiration from the natural world, reflected in his own musical creations as well as the music he is drawn to.

For our inspiration in this episode, we look to the natural phenomenon of spindrift - spray blown from cresting waves during a gale, churning like butter in the corners and edges of sea cliffs while gulls hover above. There’ll be music filled with that spindrift spirit from the likes of Penelope Trappes, Aliya Lark and marine eyes.

Also, we’re transported to the musical safe haven of someone who really understands the inspiration that the sea can hold - award-winning Belize-born British composer, and Master of the King’s Music, Errollyn Wallen.
