All in the Mind Awards 2027

Claudia Hammond and BBC Radio 4 want to recognise the people and projects which have had a real impact on your mental health. Entries for the 2027 awards will open on September 15th, 2026 at 9:30am.

Why do we have this Award?
Many of us experience a problems with our mental health at some point in our lives. Help and support from people around us can make all the difference in terms of how we cope day-to-day and on the road to recovery. The Radio 4 All in the Mind Awards recognise the unsung heroes who help make the difference.
When do the Awards happen?
Nominations for the 2027 awards will be open from September 15th, 2026 at 9:30am and will close on January 8th, 2027 at 1:00pm.

The three nomination categories
Individual Award
A friend, colleague, boss, member of your family or any other individual who has helped you with respect to understanding and supporting your mental health condition.
Professional Award
A mental health professional who helped you, with respect to understanding and supporting your mental health condition.
Project Award
A mental health project that has helped you with respect to understanding and supporting your mental health condition.

Submit your entry to the 2027 All in the Mind Awards

ENTRIES WILL OPEN AT 9:30AM ON TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2026.

What happens next?
After a process of sifting through the entries, and in some cases phoning the nominators, a judging panel of people with extensive experience of mental health will select nine finalists, three from each category.

All the finalists and their nominators will be interviewed by Claudia Hammond and broadcast on All in the Mind, Radio 4’s magazine programme on mental health, psychology and neuroscience, which has been running for over 30 years.
The winners will be publicly announced on All in the Mind, online and at the Awards Event. The Awards Event is expected to take place on Wednesday 16th June, 2027 at the BBC Radio Theatre.

2023 Individual Category Winner: Josephine Barclay
Nominated by Hamish and Maudie Barclay
Hamish Barclay was a teenager when he was given steroids to treat kidney problems and experienced the rare side effect of psychosis. He's lived with a diagnosis of schizophrenia for 13 years and thanks to support from his mother Josephine he's been able to return to making music. His sister Maudie helped him to nominate their mum for an All in the Mind Awards. Taking part in the All in the Mind Awards has made a real difference to Josephine and Maudie's lives.


ZeZe Sohawon: Why I nominated a mental healthcare professional
ZeZe nominated Dr Claire Purcell in the 2021 All in the Mind Awards
Dr Claire Purcell, 2021 All in the Mind Awards finalist (Professional), was nominated by ZeZe Sohawon. ZeZe was recovering from psychosis and nominated Dr Purcell for all her help and support whilst moving back into the community. ZeZe is now a Neuroscientist, mental health researcher and CEO of a youth mental health and autism charity called Emotion Dysregulation in Autism (EDA). Zeze was also a judge for the 2025 All in the Mind Awards.


StrongMen's co-founder Efrem Brynin on being nominated for an All in the Mind Award
StrongMen was nominated in the Project (Group) category in 2021.
In 2021 following the unexpected loss of his daughter, Adam Lee nominated StrongMen, a group set up to support men with severe mental health issues following a bereavement. Co-founder Efrem Brynin explains what being nominated for the All in the Mind Awards has meant to the group.
