You work in a museum. It is your job to tell visitors about this object. Look at it, read the fact file, and think carefully what visitors to your museum might like to know. You only have space for 20 words on the label, so write your first draft on scrap paper. |
Fact File: The Roman Sundial
- Date: around 200 BC
- It is a time piece
- The shadows of the sun told what time of day it was
- It had numbers on the curving half-bowl
- The sundial was divided into 12, not 24 sections
- It was found in public places
- Private houses wouldn't normally have a sundial
- It pointed due north
- It would stop telling time at night
