American Joel tudor

The 18-year-old moves into 25th place on the tour following a performance that saw him eliminate three-times world champion Colin McPhillips in round five.

Dudley, from Swansea, showed great style in the small waves and it took former world champion American Joel Tudor and Brazilian Paulo Kidd to end his run in the contest.

Tudor, who went on to win the final against Kidd, was the standout surfer at the event. He rode the best wave of the whole contest scoring nine points out of 10, as well as the highest heat score in the final, courtesy of a faultless drop-knee bottom turn, followed by a long hang-five, passing to a hang-ten and finishing with a powerfull re-entry almost on the sand.

Hawaiian Bonga Perkins maintains his lead on the tour after two events after finishing in third place. Australian Grant Thomas was fourth.

British Masters champion Lee Ryan saw his hopes fade in round six. The Newquay longboarder, who had earlier put out rival Sam Bleakley, from Sennen, looked impressive but failed to get the points needed and finished third in his heat to American Taylor Jensen and Kidd.

Fellow Cornishman Ben Skinner had no answer to South African Mathew Moir, American Zack Howard and Aussie stylist Lucas Proudfoot in round five. He finished fourth in the encounter.

Daniel Harris won through two rounds of the event before finishing third to Frenchman Ryan Hakman and American Taylor Jensen.
