The annual North Devon and Exmoor Walking Festival has expanded this year to include bike rides at some the region's best loved beauty spots.

This is the fourth year of the Festival, which aims to get people out and about over the May Day bank holiday 30th April - 3rd May.

Walks have been organised for Exmoor and the Unesco biosphere at Braunton Burrows, where there's the chance to take in breathtaking coastal and moorland views on the walk routes.

Among the highlights are walks to see red deer and ponies on Exmoor, a 1646 walk at Great Torrington, a trek along the Two Moors Way, and a walk on the island of Lundy.

Clovelly and Lynton are also included in some of the coastal walks.

There are 11 circular bike rides with maps for the cycle routes. These self-guided rides take in Ilfracombe, Barnstaple, Braunton, Bideford, South Molton, Great Torrington and Holsworthy.

There are also guided rides on Exmoor and along the Tarka Trail.

The rides and walks are of varying degrees of difficulty and the aim is to ensure there are routes for everyone.

The festival has been such a success that the event now plays an important part in North Devon and Exmoor's tourism calendar.

For more details about the 40 walks and bike rides, visit the festival's website linked from the left of this page.
