| | Off the rails: The programme offers BBC Radio Devon listeners the chance to hear new music from local unsigned musicians. | | This New Year's Eve, the 'Devon Demos Express' set off on a journey across the county to meet some of the unsigned musicians featured on this site. We also got some professional advice from X-Factor judge Louis Walsh and Exeter music publisher Graham Sclater. |

| | Coldplay's Chris Martin, Muse and Joss Stone are just three successful acts with Devon connections - and you only have to listen to many of the acts on this site to know there should be loads more! | | Coldplay's Chris Martin is a Devon boy! |
On New Year's Eve 2004, John Govier presented a programme on BBC Radio Devon which featured interviews with six of the acts included on this site PLUS a chat with pop impresario and X-Factor judge Louis Walsh.
Exeter based music publisher Graham Sclater was on hand too, offering some tips and guidance on getting noticed in the music industry. If you were unable to tune in to BBC Radio Devon - or you want to hear it again - you can listen at your leisure by clicking on the link at the top of the page.
In the programme we meet: | Katie Marie from South Devon; who takes inspiration from the beautiful Stoke Gabriel Quay, | | David Sanderson from Exeter; whose jingle for DJ Steve Wright ended up in the lower reaches of the charts, | | Siblings Mark and Katie Kragh; who live hundreds of miles apart but still manage to make music together as Street Angel, | | Obedientbone; whose rural roots didn't preclude them from winning the title of Best New Urban Act, 2004, | | Tiverton singer songwriter Charlie Deuchar who takes inspiration from his days as a chorister at Exeter cathedral, | | and five-piece funk-rock band Instinct from North Devon; who are keen to make it big without having to perform cover versions. |
Also in the programme Graham Sclater from Tabitha Music guides us through the argument for employing a music publisher to fight your corner - and we ask Louis Walsh, | | One of Louis Walsh's acts - Lulu | who looks after the likes of Lulu, Westlife and Girls Aloud - to give us his tips on getting your demo noticed.
Is that on-screen 'animosity' with fellow X-Factor judge Simon Cowell for real?
The programme also includes a competition to win a Devon Demos goody bag with a chance to win each of the six acts' demo CDs.
You need to get your entries in by Friday 7th January 2005 to be in with a chance and the name of the sender of the winning entry will appear here.
