FACTS

September is archive awareness month - one month when public and private archives across the country will be holding events and open days to try to raise public awareness of the wealth of treasures that archives hold.

Over 6 million people in the UK - that's more than one in ten of the population - are busy finding out more about their ancestors. Its addictive!

If you lined up all the archives in England and Wales they would stretch from John O'Groats to Land End! There are over 1500km of archives in England and Wales

Seeing Ourselves
A part of appreciating our local community is knowing where we have come from - how our common history has shaped the community we live in.

For the coming weeks, the South West Film and Television Archive (TSWFTA) is dusting off some of its precious, and in some cases surprising footage.

I understand that during the second world war Polish servicemen were stationed at an airfield in the Exeter area, I would like to know where the airfield was (Name) and any information on servicemen who served there Thanking you in advance E.M.Humphreys
