Learn to calm your breathing with Hey Duggee
Learn a relaxing breathing technique with Hey Duggee and the Squirrels as they help Naughty Monkey calm down.
What is this song about?
The 'Calm Down' song from Hey Duggee's Squirrel Club teaches children how to slow their breathing to help calm down. As Naughty Monkey runs amok, Duggee helps the Squirrels demonstrate a breathing technique to help regulate the body.
As Duggee breathes in slowly, he imagines a balloon. With each slow exhale, he imagines the balloon inflating. By slowing the breath, he relaxes and can begin to calm down.
This breathing technique is especially helpful for Naughty Monkey, but can be used with any other cheeky monkeys you may know who have too much energy. Self-regulation through breathing exercises can help your child feel in control. Excitement or panic can make emotions run high, so using this as a go-to exercise will give your child a new tool to help them cope and regulate themselves.
Sing along to the 'Calm Down' song 🎈
This one is a really easy song to learn, as it only has seven words!
There are six breaths in and six breaths out, with the last being the longest.
Close your eyes and breathe with your child for maximum benefits. You could do this exercise outside in the fresh air or cuddled up on the sofa, wherever you need to feel calm.
🎶 Lyrics 🎶

And a big breath out.
