Could a man and a woman be "just" friends?

Can it be possible or is it just one of the old myths? Are we able to believe and find ourselves in a non-sexual relationship between man and woman?

Personally, I think there isn't any "true" answer to this question. Everyone has different approach and experience regarding true friendship. A coin has always two sides, that is why one of the sides, he or she, will be probably interested in more than just a platonic relationship.

Have you ever heard a saying: "men are from Mars and women are from Venus". I think the catchphrase is commonly used for both genders to show and to explain basic difference in thinking, communication style or expression of feelings. Nowadays the difference between two sexes is winding up and is becoming more and more unclear. Generally speaking, women were considered for a long time as a weaker sex. In these days, females have become as active as males in many countries; taking part in elections and in social events or even they have appeared to be more competitive in "typical'' men's jobs or sports. This shows that a man might see in a woman not only an object of beauty and physical attraction but think of her as a "workmate" and good a "buddy".

As it was believed many years ago, a platonic relationship couldn't be possible between male and female. Most probably it would end soon or later in "crossing the sex line". Women have been seen as sexual objects and created to give birth to their offspring. On the contrary, men have been taught and conditioned to hunt for food and protect their family.

I think that we can't contradict ourselves or better to say our human nature. What happened with human attraction, lust and tension? In my opinion, those feelings are inseparable from us- "human beings" but can be fully controlled. A simple platonic hug can't be for "her/him" something more than a friendly cuddle. The basics of friendship are interest and confidence, not gender! What is worth to remember that woman and man should have the same crystal clear view regarding the matter in platonic relationship.

As far as I'm concerned, I think that the question about man's and woman's friendship still remains open. What do you think about it?

Thanks! And see you soon!

Legendary heroes

Hello!
First, I would like to thank you all for such a warm welcome! It is fantastic to see so many comments which you have left about the subject which is near and dear to my heart :-). Now let's get started...ready, steady...let's go!

Have you ever heard something about the legendary Zorro? (In Spanish- fox). The typical image of him is a dashing in the black-clad masked with a silver sharp sword in a hand. He was an outlaw defending poor people. I came across of this half-legendary character many years ago and to my disbelief the story was based on California's outlaw - Joaquina Muriety. I remember as small child in the primary school every boy wanted to be famous Zorro in the fancy dress ball, so in the end we had about 20th Zorros and one king Arthur :-) what a lovely memories!

I bet you heard about English legendary hero, considered as one of the most famous. A highly skilled archer, who lived in a Sherwood Forest with a group of his companions. He is well known for his extremely tight green tights :-) and for the famous catchphrase "robbing from the rich and giving to the poor". I am talking about Robin Hood the superhero in English folklore. Personally, I think he surpassed Zorro and became a Don Corleone of sorts.

One of top interesting Spanish characters is Don Juan. Actually, he wasn't a heroic outlaw but a person who took a great pleasure in seducing women and fighting with their man. What is worth to remember that among Spaniards and in their culture the name Don Juan is well known and associated with a "womanizer":-). It is quite strange but Polish people and Slovakians share the same character of many legends and poems. Jerzy Janosik / Juraj Jánošík is pretty similar to the character of Robin Hood. Fortunately, according to the legends he wore white chunky wool trousers and instead of a bow he had a mountain axe in his hand :-)

This is it! Feel free to add your comments to anything I have written. I would like you to share with me your opinions and ideas :-) maybe you know some blood freezing legend or outlaw from your country!?

See you very soon!

This is Olga from Poland and Spain!

Hiya everyone!
Ladies and gentlemen let me introduce myself. My name is Olga and I am a brand new student blogger. It is a great pleasure for me to be here with you all and to share with you my precious treasure which is full to the brims of golden lovely memories, gained during many years of travel across Spain.

So if you are looking for a way to add a bit sparkle into your day ...be my guest, sit comfortably where ever you can...and then let the new storytelling begin!

Hot? or better to say boiling hot? During summer days in Spain's capital Madrid we are exposed to a constant repetition of these two words in the streets. Wherever you go, you cannot hide the summer heat wave soon or later will find you. Sometimes I had the feeling that people (from all over the world) were only talking about the oven like weather, even though I couldn't understand them. But hey!

Now, here is a one tricky for you. Do you know what a traditional and quintessential Spanish drink is? Of course! The answer should be only one...Sangria :) A red wine served with lemonade with a couple of bits of orange, peaches, kiwis and apples floating in it, personally, I think it is the best cooling drink in Spain! Hungry? No worries wherever you move, you are surrounded by typical Spanish bars "tapas" -an appetizer or snack. As I always say it is a place and cuisine which is a real feast for the eyes, palate and soul! I am sure that even the most sophisticated aficionado of refined dishes will find a dish after his heart! Once my old Spanish friend gave me a golden tip: to select the best tapas bar you have to look on the floor...! if you find inside a bar some rubbish ( the napkins etc. ) on a floor, this is a confirmation for you that service, food, drinks and atmosphere is right :)

When I visit a foreign country, I always bear in mind that the flexibility and adaptability are two of the most important attributes to understand culture and respect other people's way of life and their customs. We have to remember that our lifestyles have undergone a complete transformation in the past decade but I believe that once in the blue moon we can be like Christopher Columbus and discover our own New World :-)

See you soon!!
